Learn how to spot fake Adidas Superstars with this detailed 28 point step-by-step guide by goVerify.
Adidas Superstars come in a sturdy retail box, make sure the lid doubles over back into the box to create structural strength. Check that the lid section which folds back into the box is attached with two small glued down tabs. Also note how the side walls, when viewed from inside the box, have a locking system that does not require any gluing. The side panels have tabs that stick right through holes cut into the side corners.
Adidas Superstars have the classic rubber shell toe cap. Look closely at the fine X texture in the rubber. Also note how the shell toe cap is a separate piece of rubber to the rest of the midsole. Make sure the heavy duty stitching joking the two is tight, neat and evenly spaced. This is also a good opportunity to check the stitching quality around the laces holes.
The tongue will have a lace stay loop stitched onto the front. Make sure there is a tight double stitch line holding the base of this lace holder in place, note how the top of the lace holder folds over and there is no stitch line along the top edge that you can see. Take note of the thickness of the leather which keeps the lace holder rigid and open.
The insole of Superstars is soft rubber with an Adidas and Trefoil logo pattern embossed across it. Make sure the stitching joining the insole to the upper is neat and evenly spaced.
