5. Box Sizes
Vans Authentics have a retail box with a size conversion table printed on the back. Make sure the printing is clear and sharp and that there are no spelling mistakes. Tip: Look for the country of origin under the recycle logo, make sure it matches the country of origin on the label inside the shoe.

Vans Authentics have a Vans flag logo molded onto the midsole rubber. Check that the logo tab sits flush on the midsole, following the bump of the midsole join. Check that the print quality of the logo is solid with sharp edges. Make sure the midsole join is flat with no lifting. This is also a good opportunity to check the join between upper fabric and midsole rubber, make sure there is no excess glue showing.
18. Lining
If you roll the upper back you will see the back of the eyelets, make sure each eyelet has a metal outer and inner ring. Take note of how the eyelets are punched through a double layer of lining. Make sure the hem along the edge of the upper is a even width and that the stitching follows the edge of the hem perfectly.

Have a close up look at the sole detail of the waffle pattern, check that the join between waffle sole and midsole rubber is clean and neat with minimal paint marks. Make sure the midsole rubber is not lifting anywhere. Tip: Look for the tiny dot, sphere, on the edge of the outsole, it will be located on either side of the shoe where the toe bumper joining the midsole ends.
